About Us

Ploony, formally known as Blaen-y-Plwyff, was built around 1845. This former farmhouse has been restored by Sarah and John over the past few  years to reflect the past but offer the comforts and convenience of today.

With three bedrooms, Ploony sleeps six. It is centrally heated and has a wood burner to provide extra warmth and cosiness in the winter. The sitting room also has digital TV with DVD and video to keep the kids happy on rainy evenings.

Whilst secluded, it shares its position with Ploony Barn now occupied by our good friend Darren who is always willing to help out if problems arise. Darren's family own the surrounding farmland so his father and brother are normally around tending to the lambs or bailing the hay.

The nearest pub is a 10 minute walk along the track  into Bleddfa. (Unfortunately closed at present)

The market town of Knighton is a 20 minute drive. Here you can do your shopping at Tuffins supermarket or enjoy a lunch time Pizza at the Horse and Jockey. Hereford is a little further, about an hour, but well worth a visit, particularly if you prefer the convenience of Tesco's or love browsing the  chain stores.

If peace and tranquillity is what you want then go no further than the garden. Relax by the stream or sit on the bench and take in the stunning views down the valley. Look out for the woodpecker and bat who are regular visitors along with a variety of other birds. You should definitely spot a red kite.

Just a ten minute walk takes you up to the secluded Pen y clawdd Pool (see 'Places to visit') with its jumping fish and far reaching views.
